Directors

Mr. Taylor has been the head of Flower Mound High School’s Theatre Department for 18 years. In those years, he has directed over 65 shows. Mr. Taylor graduated from Texas Tech University where he studied Music Education (with a vocal emphasis) and Theatre Education. Upon graduation, he moved to New York City where he worked as an actor, music director, director, vocal coach, and yes…a waiter. While in New York, Mr. Taylor helped to produce over 80 musicals and assisted the creator of more than 10 new children’s shows. He spent 11 wonderful years in New York “living the life of the gypsy”.

Although Mr. Taylor loved his time in New York, he knew it was time to come back home and do what he loves... teach. While at Flower Mound, Mr. Taylor has taken One Act Plays to State competition five time (Into the Woods, 2nd runner up in 2005; Rimers of Eldritch in 2008; These Shining Lives, 2nd runner up in 2013; By the Bog of Cats, 2nd runner up in 2014; and The Cripple of Inishmaan, 1st runner up in 2015). FMHS has also been fortunate to have two recipients of the Samuel French Award for acting at the UIL State One Act Play Competition and competed on the Region level seven times. Mr. Taylor has taken a mainstage show to State ITS Convention and National ITS Convention in Nebraska (Forever Plaid, 2008-2009) and Chapter Select play Women of Lockerbie in 2011. In 2015-2016, Mr. Taylor was chosen by the Texas Thespians to direct their state show Big Fish, where he had the privilege of working with students and directors from all over the state. In addition, he was honored to work with the composer of Big Fish on a new school edition that is now being produced all over the world. Texas Thespian's version of Big Fish was also chosen to perform and close the National Convention in 2016.

He has also had many students perform on the mainstage at the state and national levels.  He is constantly amazed at the talent Flower Mound brings, and continues to be overly proud of his students near and far who are making magic wherever they go.
